Our Sauna
Our wood-fired sauna, with space for up to eight people, offers a peaceful retreat within our unique garden and the surrounding landscape of the Devon Wildlife Trust’s rainforest recovery project.
Whether you’re seeking some quiet time, planning a small gathering with friends, or organising a mini retreat, the sauna offers a relaxing way to connect with nature. We are a short walk from Totnes town centre but totally enveloped in nature. It is not uncommon to spot deer, owls and murmurations of birds from the sauna and if sauna-ing by night, the stars here are magic.
Connecting with nature has a profound effect on our wellbeing, and the sauna is a great way to do that. But we believe those benefits should go both ways — we want to tread lightly and insure our gains do not come at a cost to the land. We therefore ask everyone who wishes to come and visit our sauna to read and follow our guidelines carefully.

What you need to know
-
Unfortunately we do not have parking.
We are located on Fishchowter’s Lane, an ancient footpath enveloped in mossy trees and ferns. You can access the footpath on foot from either Maudlin Road or The Western Bypass but please note, there is NO VEHICULAR ACCESS. This makes visiting the farm a little less convenient but a lot more magical.
If you are driving, please respect the parking restrictions around us and make sure to park in Totnes town centre and walk from there.
For shorter visits Victoria Street Car Park is the most convenient option (3-hour max stay)
For longer visits, Heath Way or The Nursery car parks are your best option, with no time restriction
Please note, the walk involves a hill which can be challenging for some people.

Shower before arriving: Please shower and wash at home before you come — this is important for protecting the stream that runs through the site. The spring-fed shower and plunge pool are part of the therapeutic hot and cold experience, not conventional washing facilities.
Bring your own towel: It’s best to bring two towels - one for sitting on in the sauna and one for drying off afterwards.
Wear appropriate swimwear: There is space for you to change but you might want to arrive in swimwear or have it under your clothes for convenience. Nudity is not permitted.
Don’t forget footwear: Slip on shoes like flip flops are ideal for moving between the sauna and plunge pool.
Stay hydrated: We will provide drinking water and cups but you may want to bring your own water bottle.
Take off jewellery to avoid burns
